AMD Launches Radeon HD 6990M GPU for Mobile Gaming

AMD has launched a GPU (Graphics Processor Unit) Radeon HD 6990M, AMD claimed as the fastest mobile graphics processor in a single today. HD 6990M GPUs for notebooks which is soon replaced the AMD Radeon 6970M is now widely used.

AMD Radeon HD 6990M supports Microsoft DirectX 11 and 3D Stereo. This GPU memaket 1.7 billion transistors with a clock speed of 715MHz, 1120 stream processors, 2GB of GDDR5 memory configuration, and 1.6 TFLOPS of computing power. HD 6990M also supports AMD's CrossFireX technology that combines the outputs of the two GPUs to improve the graphics performance of the notebook. Merging is not just for the two HD 6990M, but also the combination of AMD's HD 6990M and A-Series Accelerated Processor (APU) that have previously been launched.

 

The technology also supports AMD Eyefinity so it can be used six display. HD 6990M also supports AMD App Acceleration technology that makes this GPU to accelerate video playback, video streaming and Web browsing.

HD 6990 will be used on a notebook for gaming that require high performance graphics. "As long as there is trust, on your mobile computing always compromise with performance. Today, AMD refused to myth," said Matt Skynner, Corporate Vice President and General Manager, GPU division, AMD.
